I thought it was nigh on time I played some of my old singles, so I had a root through one of my crates and picked these tonight:

First up:

101-Dam-Nations by Scarlet Party – I first heard this on a BBC Radio show hosted by Phil Collins. I can’t remember when it was, but amongst a load of well known songs, he played this one. I’d never heard it before and I loved it.

I searched for years to find the single and finally came across it at a record fair in Sheffield.

Second:

Walk on By – Dionne Warwick – I’ve loved this track ever since I first saw the film which was made to accompany the original release. It was released in 1963, I seem to remember seeing it on a music documentary when I was in my early teens.

The version I’ve got is a Record Store Day release, with The Stranglers version on the other side. (I don’t play that side!)

Third:

How Come by Ronnie Lane & Slim Chance – I think I found this at the same record fair in Sheffield. I’ve always like this track, so snagged it when I saw it. It’s not favorite Ronnie Lane song though, the one I’m after is The Poacher!

Fourth:

made-up love song #43 – guillemots – I saw guillemots live at Glastonbury in June 2007 and they blew me away. They played this song, so had to buy the single when I saw it. It’s off their debut album, Through the Windowpane, which features another all time favorite song, Annie, Let’s Not Wait
